Envisioning a Statue from Sea to Shining Sea
Daniel Bolz is the President and CEO of the Statue of Responsibility Foundation, which plans to build a 300-foot monument on the American West coast to complement the Statue of Liberty. It will depict two hands clasped together as designed by the internationally known sculptor Gary Lee Price, who was commissioned for the project. Viktor E Frankl, the author of Man’s Search for Meaning, wasthe first to envision a second towering statue in the U.S. to portray that “responsibility must go hand in hand with liberty.”
A native of Marquette, Michigan, Bolz grew up appreciating the joy of good art and the beauty of nature. Daniel’s professional training came from universities in Michigan and Utah, where he studied art, political science, community education administration, and business management. He holds a BA in political science and art, an M.Ed., in educational administration, and an MBA. He has lived and worked in New York, Michigan, Utah, Germany, and Scotland. Since 1987 he has headed his own management consulting company, Paradigm International, providing executive level management and marketing consulting to private businesses, government entities and non-profit foundations.
Daniel and his wife, Ingrid, are the proud parents of four daughters with three grandchildren. Bolz has been working on the Statue of Responsibility monument project since 2002 and is a third-generation military veteran. He says working to see this monument built is his way of defending freedom, just as his great-grandfather did in WWI in Germany.
