RENOWNED SALES TRAINER AND SPEAKER, THOMAS AARON SCHAFF, APPOINTED AS CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THE STATUE OF RESPONSIBILITY FOUNDATION

St. Louis, Missouri, 5 January 2009 – Thomas A. Schaff, writer, sales trainer and speaker, has accepted an invitation to help build the Statue of Responsibility monument by serving as the Foundation’s new Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Schaff will assist the Foundation in its plans to build a 300 foot tall Statue of Responsibility monument on the West Coast of America before the end of the first decade of the 21st Century.

The Statue of Responsibility Foundation is committed to seeing the inspirational idea of Dr. Viktor E. Frankl become a reality. In the 1960’s, Frankl said, “Freedom is not the last word. Freedom is only part of the story and half of the truth. The positive aspect of freedom is responsibleness. That is why I recommend that the Statue of Liberty on the East Coast be supplemented by a Statue of Responsibility on the West Coast.”

“The addition of Mr. Schaff to our Foundation’s board of trustees, is a most welcomed addition to our growing organization,” said Daniel Bolz, President & CEO of the Statue of Responsibility Foundation. “Tom’s passion to see this monument built, and his energetic approach to his new position, encourages all of us in the Foundation,” Bolz said. “Mr. Schaff is a man of his word, and is extremely insightful in his understanding of why the message of the Statue of Responsibility monument is so imperatively needed in this moment in history. His work will surely attract those donors who are needed to help us succeed in our cause to build what has been called, the most compelling monument project of the 21st Century,” Bolz concluded.

MORE ABOUT MR. SCHAFF
For more than 20 years, Tom Schaff has been researching, writing, and speaking on sales, creativity, and finding one’s calling. A contributing author of Common Sense Selling and The Monday Morning Sales Coach, publisher of the weekly newsletter, Tom’s Tuesday Training Tips, and author of the upcoming May I Have Your Attention, Please? and Now That I Have Your Attention, Tom has combined his extensive and varied experience with his own personal and spiritual philosophies to create a training style that is truly unique.

Tom’s content-packed seminars are interactive and entertaining, leaving each participant with clear direction, motivation and focus. Tom’s attitude about what he loves most–selling–is truly infectious.
Tom is a frequent speaker at industry conferences, where he shares his philosophy of putting the person back into “salesperson.” “Too often,” he argues, “we concentrate more on the selling part and forget that sales is really about people–about communicating and making connections.” He earned his business degree from the University of Minnesota, earning 19 scholarships from his studies. Tom has since used his skills and training with Fortune 500 companies such as Kraft, Unilever, Lucent Technologies, McDonald’s, and AT&T.

Tom Schaff

Speaking about the monument project, Schaff said, “Maybe it’s time for our nation to enter a new exploration of questions, including but not limited to:
• Can our way of life continue to perpetually sustain itself?
• Where do our rights intersect with our obligations?
• What is the continuing price of liberty without regard to responsibility?

Without a Statue of Responsibility, our citizens risk a spiral downward, threatening our refuge, security and shelter. Unmitigated, we become a nation at risk of the most dangerous of dangers, a nation that becomes complacent, unaware that the seeds of debacle are sowed and growing under our very eyes. While not obvious, it is self evident that things cannot continue the way they are. And thanks to the Statue of Responsibility monument, they won’t. One powerful role of monuments is to constantly remind us of a higher ideal, a higher mission for our lives, and a grander purpose for living. In a busy world cluttered with multiple messages, monuments can give us pause. It is very clear to me that now is the time to build this historic monument to enduring freedom.”

MORE ABOUT THE FOUNDATION.

The Statue of Responsibility Foundation, a 501(c)(3), non-profit corporation, has a two-fold mission: First, to raise the funding necessary to construct the monument. Second, and more long-term in nature, is to establish an educational scholarship fund. Scholarships will be given to applicants who have financial need and who can demonstrate how they have applied the principle of responsibility in their life – and how they plan to implement this principle following their university graduation.
