Greetings to our Friends of the Foundation…

I hope this message from the Statue of Responsibility headquarters finds each of you doing well.  Many advancements have taken place since our last update in March.

  • Our commissioned book project is making headway.  Meetings with our editor/publisher are identifying the best ways to promote the book.  We will be offering a pre-sell option to many and hope each of you will place an order for 5 or 10 books once we are ready.  More to come soon…
  • We welcome the following new volunteer members to the Foundation:
    1. Dr. Paul T. Wong, President and Founder of the International Network of Personal Meaning.  Paul was born in Hong Kong and now lives in Vancouver, BC, Canada.  Check out his organizations website at www.Meaning.ca
    2. Randy Garn, President of Prosper, Inc.  Randy’s company won the Earnst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2005.
    3. Troy Copling, volunteer at large from Utah.
    4. Kevin Kroneberger, volunteer at large, university student from Colorado.
    5. Dennis Gallagher, volunteer at large, California native now living in Utah.
    6. A new institutional partner to join in our cause is the INPM (International Network on Personal Meaning).
  • One of our current ‘front burner’ initiatives is to schedule and make our initial presentation about the monument project to each of the four potential host cities (San Diego, San Francisco, Long Beach and Seattle).  Our goal is to have the city and the land confirmed by the end of 2006.
  • The Foundation has received official invitations to present our monument project at two professional conventions in the near future.  The first convention is the 4th International Conference on Personal Meaning held in Vancouver, BC, Canada.  This convention will draw close to 1,000 professionals in the health sciences fields from all over the world.  The second convention is the 2nd Annual Latin American Congress on Logotherapy and Existential Analysis held in Buenos Aires, Argentina.  This convention will also draw close to 1,000 professionals in the health sciences fields from all over Latin America, Italy and Spain.   We are honored to be invited to each of these conventions and look forward to officially introducing the monument project to their attendees.
  • Regarding the status of visiting Rome and meeting the Pope.  We have received official permission to meet the Pope in what is called a ‘general audience’.  We intend to follow through with this as soon as funding permits.
  • On the topic of funding…  Our big initiative in this regard is contained in the following document titled, “Past, Present and Future”.  I’ve provided it in the body of this update as well as included it as an attachment for those of you who wish to print it out and give it to a potential donor.  Essentially we have completed our ‘Start Up’ phase of the project and have now entered our ‘Pre-Launch’ phase.  Here is the document. The Statue of Responsibility Monument Project: Past, Present, and Future
  • You will notice in section I, third bullet, a $1.2 million donation in product and services.  This came as the result of a letter sent to all our project partner companies from our chairman, Kevin Hall.  Each of the partner companies were asked to donate their current invoices to the Foundation, and by so doing, allow our fundraising goals to be reached more quickly.   Many thanks to each of these companies who boldly stepped up to the challenge and did so.  The owners of these companies are true ‘friends of freedom’ and are 100% committed to seeing the Statue of Responsibility monument built…  our hats go off to each of them!
  • In as much as we are now in our ‘Pre-Launch’ phase, our goal is to raise $5 million in 18 months.  Our short-term goal is to raise $200k by 15 August.  On this topic I would like to extend the following invitation to each of you…  Currently we have 172 volunteers and members of the Foundation.  The following donation examples are presented:
    • *if each of us donates $100 that will equal $17,200 towards our short-term goal

    • *if each of us donates $500 that will equal $86,000 towards our short-term goal

    • *if each of us donates $1,000 that will equal $172,000 towards our short-term goal

  • I am confident that the money will be raised.  Many in the Foundation are working to that end.  I also believe that each of us needs to do our own part to make the monument become a reality.  Each of us needs to make a donation of sacrifice to become part of the history we are making.  I invite you to consider the above donation options and choose one.  All donations should be mailed to:

  • On the topic of volunteers making ‘buzz’ about the monument project, two examples are shared here.
    1. 1. Dr. Alex Pattakos from New Mexico, President of The Innovation Group, is creating quite a stir internationally about the monument project via his Personal Responsibility Dialogue at the Global Dialogue Center.  Check out this link to see what people are saying:  www.globaldialoguecenter.com/responsibility.  Thank you Alex!
    2. 2. Mark S. Rogers from Michigan was successful in getting a story about the monument project printed in a local Michigan paper and is now contacting radio talk show hosts, politicians, and even the White House to arrange meetings and interviews.  Way to go Mark!

In conclusion:  We continue to meet people who want to be involved in this historic project.  Many are volunteering their time to help.  A heartfelt “thank you” to each of you who are supporting this worthy and much needed cause.

We will be successful in our quest – of this I am sure.
