Christmas Greetings from The Statue of Responsibility Foundation!!!

I hope this project update finds each of you well.  This message from Foundation headquarters includes a brief report on activities since our last extensive update in June.  I’ll present news on seven initiatives currently underway, and then list some of our new members.

  1. PR Steering Committee organized. This new committee is chaired by Tiffany Baron.  Tiffany and the committee have taken ownership of the Foundation’s long planned ‘Coast to Coast’ Educational Awareness Campaign PR tour.  Phase One of the two phase tour will be implemented while we are in our ‘Pre-Launch Phase’ (see attached document, ‘Past, Present & Future’.  The committee’s next conf. call in January will outline their plan to implement this pr campaign nationwide.  We’re very excited about what they will be doing.
  2. “Freedom Isn’t Free”, the book. We are pleased to report that our book project is now close to being finished, first printing is due in Feb. 2007.  Each of you will get a special promotional email soon inviting you to order several first edition copies, so plan on buying at least 10 copies for yourself and friends.  The book will be a fantastic promotional item to further advance the cause of building the monument.  We have secured many high profile authors, including foreword by Warren Bennis, preface by Mark Victor Hansen (Chicken Soup for the Soul), and many many more…  I’ve attached here a version of the table of contents you may want to look over.  The authors in red are those who are members of the Foundation.  Final edit will have about 50 authors in the book.
  3. Presentations to potential host cities on West Coast. All of you know how important it is for the project to begin to present the monument opportunity to our four ‘A’ list cities (and two ‘B’ list cities) on the West Coast.  Once a city and land is identified, and contracts signed, the project will take on a whole new life of momentum and the feeling that the monument will really be built.  We are most grateful for the team of companies who are now under contract to make these presentations happen.  Headed by JGS out of Omaha, NE, this team consists of very highly respected companies who specialize in presenting and promoting major tourist attractions and facilities throughout the country.  This is the most important action item for our ‘Pre-Launch Phase’ we entered as of May, 2006 (see attached document The Statue of Responsibility Monument Project: Past, Present, and Future).  As soon as we have sufficient funds donated, we will begin the process of presenting.
  4. Fundraising -   Tom Schaff, out of St. Louis, MO, is our new ‘Director of Corporate Giving’.  Tom is a successful businessman who approached the Foundation with the offer to assist us in raising money.  Tom has been actively involved in his work in this regard.  We look forward to his success in this important area of the project.  Our goal for the ‘Pre-Launch Phase’ is $5 million in 18 months.  This will allow us to keep moving ahead on several initiatives.
  5. Artist Agreement - It is important, from a fundraising perspective, to have our contract in place and signed between the Foundation and Gary Lee Price, commissioned sculptor for the monument.  We have been working on the document over the last 18 months and are happy to say it is finished.  The trustees will be reviewing it in January with signatures to follow.
  6. PR Internship Program - Nick Cottle has offered to organized an aggressive college internship program for the Foundation.  He is a PR major, due to graduate in 2007.  Nick will spearhead the work of the interns and will use them to implement the work of the PR Steering Committee.  An outline of work these interns will be tasked with is attached here.  Nick intends to find interns from universities throughout the country.  We are pleased that younger people are being attracted to the monument project.  This will become a major undertaking of involvement by Generation X and Generation Y young adults.  I’ve attached a document here about the tasks that will be worked on by these interns.
  7. Speaking Circuit - I have been encouraged (and pushed out the door) by a trusted friend and member of the Foundation to go on the speaking circuit to help promote the monument project.  This trusted friend has also acted as my speech coach.  I’ve prepared a compelling presentation about the Statue of Responsibility.  So now I will begin to line up speaking engagements.  I have one scheduled for Buenos Aries, Argentina this coming summer.  I am thinking that two to three a month is all I will have time for.  If any of you wish to find out more about scheduling me to make a presentation to any groups you are associated with, give me a call.

Welcome to these new Foundation members.
