St. Louis Design Firm, Boody Fine Arts, Inc., Joins The Statue of Responsability Foundation

Louis, MO, 27 June 2005 - Boody Fine Arts, Inc., headquartered in St. Louis, MO, has contracted with the Statue of Responsibility Foundation to provide critical construction and design services for the Foundation that plans to build a Statue of Responsibility monument on the West Coast of America.
The Statue of Responsibility Foundation is committed to seeing the idea of Dr. Viktor E. Frankl become a reality. In the 1960’s, Frankl said, “Freedom is not the last word. Freedom is only part of the story and half of the truth. The positive aspect of freedom is responsibleness. That is why I recommend that the Statue of Liberty on the East Coast be supplemented by a Statue of Responsibility on the West Coast.”
“Steve Boody will serve as Co-Chair of our Building Steering Committee. As such, he and his art consulting firm will be responsible for guiding the foundry casting process for the entire artistic ‘stainless steel skin’ on the 300-foot tall monument. Additionally, his firm will provide landscape architecture design work for the surrounding Monument Pathway.” Mr. Boody and his team bring over twenty years of professional experience to this project. Boody will join the general contractor, structural steel firm, engineers, and architects who will make up the Building Steering Committee.

Reflecting on the project, Mr. Boody said, “The first thing that really intrigued me about the SOR project was not the scale of the project, even though it will be 300 feet tall, nor was it the design itself, even though it is a wonderful work of art. No, it was the story behind the project and the belief that without individual responsibility, we will not have our liberty or freedom.”
“Several years ago I was involved with researching the Restructuring of America’s Educational System and I was alarmed at the direction our Nation and our educational system was moving. To quote President Lincoln, “The philosophy in the classroom of this generation is the philosophy of government in the next.” I have been concerned that our Nation is willing to give up our individual liberties to be safe, and according to George Orwell, “Who controls the past controls the future. Who controls the present controls the past.”.
“I think of the hundreds of thousands of men and women who have given their lives so we can be free today, and I say, we must stand for those same values, so that our grandchildren’s grandchildren may be free. Another great American, Patrick Henry said it so well – “Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased at the price of chains or slavery? Forbid it, Almighty God! I know not what course others may take but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!”

The Statue of Responsibility Foundation, a 501(c)(3), non-profit corporation, has a two-fold mission: First, to raise the funding necessary to construct the monument. Second, and more long-term in nature, is to establish an educational scholarship fund.
